William 'Big Bill' Phelps, 62, of Anamosa, Iowa, made his great journey to the Lord's kingdom on February 19, 2013, at home after a lengthy illness. A gathering of family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. ' noon on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Big Bill loved t-shirts and sweatpants, so casual dress is requested. Survivors include his daughter, Shelly (Jesse) Stearns of Anamosa; granddaughters, Trinity, Lexi-Pooh, and Bailee; and a grandson, Liam 'Little Bill'. Bill was born July 8, 1950, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Stella Phelps. He was raised by his grandma, who was like a mom to him. He loved fishing, working on cars, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, who were his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by parents; grandparents; and a brother. Memorials may be directed to the family in care of Margaret Meier, 3521 Badger Drive SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52404.

    I know your heart is breaking, but always remember the memories your Dad left you. He will be that butterfly you see in the back yard or that penny you find on the ground. He will always let you know he is around. His grandkids were his pride and joy, You know He loved them and you and he know that YOU were his HERO…..love ya

  4. Ok Dad this is it. This is where we part ways and miss each other forever. I’m having a hard time still trying to believe that this is real. You always told me I was your hero, but I never told you, that you are my hero and always have been since forever. I’m doing my best to make your last wishes come ture and so far so good. I’ve had some help though….Jesse is my Rock and my Mom and Steve and even Aunt Maggie helped me get this all done for you. See I told you people cared for you. Until we meet again Old Man… Love you RIP

  9. I’ve been thinking about u alot lately. I’ll never forget all u did for me. U gave me a place to stay, always an ear to hear my problems and always sound advice. I will always have a special place in my heart for u my dear friend! Until we meet again! R.I.P BIG BILL
