Kathleen 'Kathy' Oakley, 58, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, by Deacon Jim Berger. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. She is survived by her husband, John; mother, Marianne Cooper; sons, Chris King and Steven Oakley; siblings, Teresa Cooper, Timothy (Laurie) Cooper, all of Cedar Rapids, Ron (Kelli) Cooper of Kansas City, Missouri, and Ann Marie (Randy) Walker of Onslow, Iowa; and a granddaughter, Ella King. Kathy was born March 27, 1954, in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Harold and Marianne (Fleming) Cooper. On March 7, 1985, she married John C. Oakley in Cedar Rapids. Kathy worked at Farmstead Food for 17 years, and then as a cook at College Community Schools for 10 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, fishing, aquariums, and had a great love for animals. Kathy also spent a lot of time tending to her gardens. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold; and her son, Patrick King. Kathy generously gifted to the Iowa Donor Network as a tissue donor. The family requests memorials to be directed to the Iowa Donor Network in her memory.

Kathy was a kind, caring and loving person. I will always treasure the fond memories we had sharing life’s adventures during our high school years. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
