James 'Diamond' Murdock, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died on January 10, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Union Station, 1730 16th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids. He was the loving husband of Sharon; father of Guy, Deena, Sam, Jeff, Kelly, and Marty; brother of Wayne Murdock; and a beloved grandfather. He will be missed by all of his family and friends, especially his golfing and bowling buddies.

I am so sorry for your loss and to hear the sad news about Diamond. I will miss the afternoons on the golf course with him and Tommy arguing about who’s ball traveled further into the corn field! He was one of the good guys, may he rest in peace.

I just want to say how much I enjoyed school with Jim; sports, swimming Prairie Creek, drive in movies with him in Lester’s trunk, golfing and joking around at the many RHS 53 reunions. “When I threw you a pass Sam, you always caught it.” was the supreme compliment. The passes were always very accurate so it was a matter of self defence. We’ll surely miss our quarterback
