David E. Knapp, 63, of Walker, died at home on Saturday, October 1, 2011. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, by Steve Knapp. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Gea; son, Darin (Nicky) Knapp of Chaska, Minnesota; daughter, Cait Klenk of Walker; grandchildren, Jordan and Hunter; siblings, Patricia Hoffman of Marion, Don (Jane) Knapp of Cedar Rapids, Terry (Judy) Knapp of Harlan, Iowa, and Karen (Darrell) Kintzle of Hiawatha. Dave was born May 4, 1948, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Howard and Norma (Smith) Knapp. He married Gea Gerst on March 13, 2004, in Marion. He was a fixture in the eastern Iowa car industry for most of his life, working in and around many area car dealerships. Dave's real passion was for horses and the relationships built with fellow horsemen. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial fund has been established.

We give our deepest sympathy to the Knapp family. My family met Dave only once but we all remember the short time we spend together as very memorable. My girls still talk about Dave’s horses.
