Joy Holdeman-Wilson

Joy R. Holdeman-Wilson, 71, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a long illness. Honoring her wishes, there will be no formal services. Burial will be in Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, at a later date. Joy was born September 16, 1941 in Goshen, IN, the daughter of Ernest and Harriet Hottenga Holdeman. She graduated from Goshen High School and attended beauty school for a year. Joy moved to Marion and worked as a cook for twenty five years with the Linn County Sheriff's Department and the Juvenile Detention Center. As a Christian, Joy had a deep faith. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and she enjoyed traveling, shopping and going out to eat. She is survived by her mother, Harriet, Goshen, IN; her significant other, Harry L. Simonsen, Marion; her children, Tom Wilson, Shellsburg, and Annette Wilson, Marion; her sister, Olive Holdeman, Goshen, IN; three grandchildren, Samantha Gardner, Marc Castele and Quinn Baughman and one great granddaughter, Fiiona Castele. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest.

  4. My Grandma Joy was a very strong women. I had a lot of good times with her. Going out to eat, going shopping, and most of all just spending time with her. I’ve had great times with my grandma and I miss and love her dearly. Grandma I love you and you’ll hold a special place in my heart
