Mitchell 'Mitch' Comried, 46, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, November 26, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. He is survived by his mother, Ellen Manu; four brothers, Jim (Sheri) Comried, Steve Comried, Craig (Melissa) Lewis, and George (Robinn) Lewis; one sister, Susan Fields, all of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Dilyn. Mitch was born December 22, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Nelson Lewis and Ellen Comried. He worked as a mechanic at Hawkeye Auto. Mitch had a great passion for racing in Two Man Cruiser events in Vinton and Hawkeye Downs. He most recently won the Benton County Track Championship. Mitch also enjoyed working in his mom's yard and watching football, especially the Minnesota Vikings. He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson; step-father, Paul Manu; nephew, Gregory Frese Jr.; and his grandparents, Andrew and Dollie Comried. A memorial fund has been established.

Mitch has been like one of our own family memmber,he has watch our childern grow up for 23 years,he always made them laugh,always has came in to say hows it going every morning with that loving caring smile. We will miss that smile but will always have you in our heart as one of our family. BLESS Mitchs family he so loved and would do anything for them no questions asked. Mitch is one of a kind.   3. Mitch worked for my parents (Paul & Donna Neal). I can’t remember a time when he wouldn’t pop in with that sweet smile to say hello. he always made sure to share some kind of sweet candy treat with me as a child. Mitch watched me grow into an adult. My son also had the opportunity to meet & play with Mitch a few times.

    Mitch was a caring, sweet & sincere person. He will be missed. His family is in our thoughts during this difficult time.

  5. uncle daffy, we miss you so much! there’s not a day that goes by that dosent remind us of you. we miss hanging out with you on dad’s front porch grillin out and eating steak and we still wait for that noisy little car of yours to come pulling up at any time to come put your hat on kamree and wrestle with her! you are always in our hearts! we love you! happy birthday on 12/22! we will be going to tama for ya!

I think of you in silence, I often speak your name, all i have are memories and a picture in a frame.
