Saundra K. Hormann McConaughy 72, of Mount Vernon, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at Hallmark Care and Rehabilitation Center, Mount Vernon, from brain cancer. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon, by Celebrant Mary Morgan. Saundra will be buried in Lisbon Cemetery. Surviving Saundra are her children: Glenda McConaughy of Mount Vernon, Phil McConaughy of Lisbon, Julie Meyer of Cedar Rapids, and Michael McConaughy; three brothers: Don Hormann of Mount Vernon, Robert Hormann of Lisbon, and Dale Hormann of Hiawatha. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Jerry Hormann. Saundra was born May 23, 1939, in Cedar Rapids. She worked as a CNA at Hallmark Care Center at Mount Vernon until injuries from an automobile accident left her unable to work for a time. After rehabilitation, she returned to Hallmark where she worked in housekeeping. She loved to spend time and fish at her brother Don's cabin on the Mississippi.
