Mike Mullan

Michael "Mike" Mullan 56, died February 6, 2008, in his Mechanicsville home from heart failure. Graveside services 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at Rosehill Cemetery Mechanicsville. Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel. Mike is survived by four brothers: Steve of Cedar Rapids, Jon (Stella) of Tipton, Pat of Stanwood, and Mark (Deb) of Mechanicsville. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and special Aunt Helen Mullan of Mechanicsville. Mike was preceded in death by his parents. He was born September 6, 1951 at Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert and Mary Jane Kohl Mullan. He graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1970. Mike enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1970 and served on the U.S.S. Proteus until 1974. He returned to Mechanicsville after the service, and worked for Wabash Transformer at Clarence. Mike was a member of the American Legion Bush-Dennis Post 309 of Mechanicsville. Mike loved running, and especially enjoyed yard work, using a push reel mower. He gave generously to any child who came to his door selling for fundraisers. A memorial fund in Mike's honor has been established. On-line condolences: www.morganfuneralchoices.com

  2. I can still remember the days we played sports in the yards & rode the bikes up the new streets for the Des Moine Register. He was a great friend. He will be missed big time. My deepest sympathies to all the family.

  3. 02/13/08 I just now heard of Mike’s passing and I am extremely saddened at this news. He had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful person and friend. My sincerest sympathy to all his family…he will be greatly missed and remembered forever….
