Gregory William O'Hare, 47, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, August 24, 2012. Memorial Services: 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, by Deacon Paul Zimmerman. Family and friends will begin gathering one hour prior to the service. Burial: 3 p.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Survivors include his longtime companion, Jaye Albaugh; parents, William and Janet O'Hare; a brother, Daniel O'Hare; all of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Tammy (Mike) Kuhn of Cedar Rapids, Lori (Joe) Luna of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Colleen O'Hare of Cedar Rapids; extended family, Dale and Amy Albaugh and their children, Olivia and Tyler; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, Sadie and Mojo. Greg was born April 9, 1965, in Cedar Rapids, the son of William and Janet (Link) O'Hare. He worked in construction for many years. Greg loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time fishing and camping. He will be remembered as a very kind and generous person who was always there for his family and friends. Greg will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond and Rhoda Link and Jerry and Maude O'Hare. Memorials are suggested to Greg's family.

I am so sorry for the loss to the O’Hare family. I worked with and was friends with Greg’s sister Lori back in high school. I do remember Greg as a teenager. Although I did not know Greg as an adult, my heart goes out to all of your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

We’ve lost someone we loved, it seems that time stands still.
What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we had the opportunity to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
I walked through the forests with you, listened to the water’s rushing from the bank of the river, sat on a blanket in the sunshine on a new spring day with you, felt a comfort in just being by your side. We laughed together, cried together, argued some, all in the name of love. All of these memories will stay with me for the rest of my lifetime. How generous you were to give these priceless gifts to me.
I will trust always that God saw your struggles here in this worldly place and so He put His arms around you and took you home to a place with no more anguish, no more anger. A golden heart no longer aching, hardworking hands now finally at rest.
My tears will dry, and will someday be replaced with comforting warmth that will forever remind me that you were in my life and it was as sweet as I remember.

Sending prayers to the family and friends of Greg. I did not know him but worked for several years with Jaye. Losing a loved one is hard enough without the horrible circumstances surrounding his death.

You have my sympathies. I worked with Greg for several years while he was a student at Metro HS. He was a participant in many outdoor activities/adventures during which I had an opportunity to get to know him very well. I just heard that greg had passed I worked with him numerous times at Corn Sweetners in Cedar Rapids. I havent seen Greg for little more than year. I will always remember Greg as a brother union man.
