Frederick A. Johnson, 72, of Bertram, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023. Memorial Visitation: 4:00 ' 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.Frederick is survived by his wife, Sylvia; son, John (Elizabeth) of Clive; stepson, Bill (Krista) of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Ciara (Adrian), Jory (Layla); two great grandchildren, Theo, Kennedy; brother, Brett of Cedar Rapids; and many other friends, throughout his life.Frederick Alan was born May 19, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Ralph and Rosemary Barta Johnson. He grew up in the Bertram and Cedar Rapids areas and attended Washington High School. After high school, Fred worked for Nissen's, F.M.C., and Weyerhaeuser. He retired from working at International Paper in Cedar Rapids. Frederick was united in marriage to Sylvia Phillips. Fred was known for his magic tricks, telling jokes, and great hugs. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, NASCAR, and was a big Hawkeye fan. Most of all, Fred loved the time he was able to spend with his family and friends. He will be missed very much.He is preceded in death by his parents.
